Blurt!

by Cheri Smolich

What is the word that means to speak or say very softly? Answer: Whisper. Not in this game, though.

If you know the answer, you "blurt" it out. A reader reads the definition. Any player can then "blurt" out the word. Things can get pretty loud after awhile. The person who guesses the correct word first will get to move his/her pawn on the game board a number of squares depending on what was rolled with the die beforehand. From there it's a race to the finish.

The player who gets to the last square first wins the game. I like the fact that this game includes two versions played with 300 colour-coded cards that have a total of 1200 definitions. Red print cards are used for players age 10 and up. The flip side, or blue print side, is the Junior version for age 7 to 9. It allows for three to six individual players or teams up to 12 players. Another plus is that there are several variations of play, and you can even make up your own. Word games are great fun and this one is no exception. I recommend it be added to your family collection. My sister was so impressed with this game that she went out today and bought Blurt! for her grandchildren.
