ABC T-Rex
Average User Rating:
With so many great books out there, it takes a really special one with tons of appeal and loads of educational content to stick out. This book stands head and shoulders above the rest of the great books we have read in my daughter's 3 years.
What makes this book so wonderful? Let me tell you...
Firstly, the character in this book is a hungry T-Rex. Okay, so now that we've got the attention of the young readers, let's teach them something!
The story is about a hungry dinosaur that loves the alphabet so much that he eats up all of the letters. As he's munching away on them, he describes each letter and uses it in the description at least once (A was appetizing)! What I really loved was that the book highlights the featured letter in both upper and lower cases and in big, bold print. My daughter, is a capital letter expert but we have not yet touched on the alphabet in lower cases. This book shows them both together.
The illustrations are wonderful too. The pages are full of things to look at with bright, bold colors. What we found to be really fun and educational as well, was searching for the items on the page that start with its feature letter. For example, on the A page you'll find A for asparagus, acorns, avocado, airplanes and more.
This book is a keeper, not just one that you'll want to borrow from the library. The price of this book will allow you to do this. While many kids' books are $20 and up, this one fits more easily into the budget.
My daughter and I really, really enjoyed this book and are now looking forward to sampling some more from Bernard Most.
