Angela's Airplane (Munsch for Kids)
Average User Rating:
Children love to push buttons; your buttons, buttons on the remote control, buttons that send airplanes soaring into the sky. Angela's Airplane is the amusing tale of a five-year-old whose curiosity sends her soaring. While looking for her father at the airport Angela boards a plane and sets out to discover what all those buttons are for.
As Angela pushed the buttons my three year old kept looking up at me. Probably waiting for me to tell her to keep her hands to herself. The first time we read the book he shook his head whenever Angela asked if it's okay to push just one button. After Angela came through unscathed he happily chimes in "Yes, yes, yes, yes" whenever Angela waivers on pressing just one more button.
Michael Martchenko's amusing illustrations make even scary events like Angela's crash landing funny. My boys loved the details, asking what each and every button and lever on the airplane does.
Kids love to tell Angela it is ok to push just one more button. The story is wonderful for preschool age on up, though younger children enjoy the "Yes, yes, yes, yes" refrain. On the surface this book is fun. If you read a little deeper it is empowering, showing children even small actions can have big effects.
