Backgammon for Kids

by Cora Malone

Backgammon made kid-friendly!

This game is basically the same as the adult version, except for the instruction booklet.

The illustrations in the booklet are geared towards kids, with cute little cartoon characters representing the game pieces. The instructions themselves are made easier to understand with a few history lessons on the game of backgammon thrown in. Who knew history could be made so entertaining? And for kids no less...

A favorite feature of mine is the unique game board that doubles as a carrying case. This makes it very easy to pack up and its compact size takes up less room when storing away.

Our family has a regular backgammon game, but my kids weren't interested in playing it at all. But as soon as they saw this one, they bugged me to try it. Once I explained the basics of the game, we set out to play. They partnered up and played against me, and (with only breaking a few rules) managed to win the game.

We've had a few rematches since, and, yes, I managed to win one (with only breaking a few rules). I think anyone who loves the game of backgammon and wants their children to share in their pastime, should go out and buy this one -- it's sure to get 'em playing the game.
