Chess For Kids

by Laurie Johns

This is a chess game for kids ages 8 and up. It contains a booklet that explains what chess is and basic directions on how to play, how the board is set up, getting started, attack and defense along with all the basic rules. It goes on to describe the different chess parts, describing what they are, how they work and what they do. It also shows strategies and different approaches for attacks and defenses.

This book is very easy to read and follow. It comes with pictures of set ups to easily illustrate concepts discussed. The game board has pictures of what the pieces are, what they look like and what they do. The chess pieces come in snappable plastic containers which are nice for storage. The board folds up nicely and the pieces fit inside with the book.

I liked this chess set, very good for beginners was able to play with my son.
