All the recipes in the cookbook stick with the animal theme. My daughter can't read yet, so I would read the instructions for her, but this is a very child-friendly cookbook.
There are pictures to accompany the instructions, so kids can see for themselves what needs to be done.
Though both boys and girls can learn to love the kitchen, in my household, my daughter is the family baker. We decided to make a farmyard full of animals and with the recipe for edible paint we had fun painting all of the different animals on our farm. Some of the colors for the paint are a little trickier to achieve. For example, we couldn't quite make pink, instead we created something with more of an orange tinge. And so orange pigs lived on our farm -- no problem.
My daughter gives this set two thumbs way up! I tend to agree with her.
