Entertaining Edibles: 50 Fun Food Sculptures for All Occasions

by Dwila Nixon

If you enjoy the artistic side of life, then this book is for you!

Sidney Escowitz does a fantastic job of making the home chef feel comfortable by expressing his desire for readers to have fun, to utilize materials from home and by giving common-sense tips. He also assures the reader that he is not a chef, but "just someone who thinks that fruits and vegetables have unique charm and character."

The featured food sculptures would make great additions to parties and buffets, or as edible gifts for special occasions.

Of particular interest are the photos of the sculptures. The author has truly captured the character traits of his subjects.

Tips

I would not recommend this book for children because many of the sculptures require the use of sharp tools (knives, an awl, and wooden toothpicks). But I do believe that children would be thrilled to see the finished product.

Pros

The book describes projects in great detail and is well organized.

Cons

Although the author offers the idea of substituting some items, the success of your project may be dependent on availability of seasonal fruits and vegetables.
