Every Day a Holiday: Celebrations for the Whole Year

by Erin Mariasine

"Everyday a Holiday" is a great book for teachers as well as for parents. The book is divided into the twelve months of the year, with each month featuring a fun and silly holiday suggestion (i.e. National Twinkie Day).

The holidays are divided into three categories: 1) Celebrate with FUN 2) Celebrate with FOOD 3) Celebrate with CRAFTS

Each section is well written and has easy to follow instructions detailing how one can enjoy each holiday.

Parents will enjoy this book, as there are plenty of fun-filled ideas for all age ranges. For example, for the really young, you might want to consider "Barney The Purple Dinosaur's Birthday". Note that this and other Barney-related activities may not be appropriate for the pre-teen crowd.

It is definitely a good book for a rainy day.

As a teacher, I like the book as it's easy to read and the instructions are clearly written. The directions are simple to follow and don't require hours of preparation.

Children love to celebrate silly days in school such as "National Pancake Day" and each of the holidays in this book allow children to use their creativity and have fun.
