Exploring Our Solar System
This book was written by former astronaut Sally Ride and educator Tam O'Shaughnessy. It starts with an overview of our solar system and then explains how it was formed. There is also detailed information on the different planets. Each page is packed with facts and wonderful color photographs taken by satellites, powerful telescopes and some by astronauts themselves. This book is geared for children about eight years old and up. My son enjoyed the book but because he is only six, I read the pages to him. The text is fairly simple and easy to understand. The photographs and diagrams especially fascinated him. I recommend this book to anyone who is interested in the topic of space. I would use this book in my classroom as well. It makes for a great resource to use for research projects at any grade level.
