Falling Up

by Andrea Hermitt

Average User Rating:

The book is filled with fun poems and illustrations for Kids age 10 and up that adults will love as well.

Not quite as grim as Grimm's Fairy Tales, not quite as mothering as Mother Goose, and doesn't rhyme quite like Dr Seuss; Falling Up, poems and drawings by Shel Silverstein has created a new genre of children's poetry. The poems are wry, ironic, sarcastic, sardonic and fun. The poems in this book illicit more of a mischievous half grin than a full smile. Children's poetry has grown up and I like it.

Stone Airplane, the shortest poem in the book is a good example of the wit and real life lessons explored by Shel Silverstein in this book:

"I made an airplane out of stone... I always did like staying home."
