Good Night Pillow Fight

by Kimberly M. Hutmacher

Moms and dads just want their kids to go to bed, but the kids have a different agenda!!

A parent says, "Kiss my cheek." A child says, "Hide and seek!" A parent says, "Lights out now!" A child says, "Pow, Pow, Pow!"

And so begins the back and forth between parent and child. This book will seem like a familiar scenario to most parents and their children. The nightly struggle many parents encounter when trying to get their children to bed, and the nightly struggle many children encounter when trying to avoid going to bed are played out in this romping good time of a book!

This book will put a smile on your face and your child's, as you both get to see the situation from the other's perspective. My kids personally enjoyed the parent saying, "Go To Bed!" and the child replying with, "You Haven't Read!"

They admired the children's determination and their ability to make a good point. My child replied with, "He's right. He has to be read to before bed. It's the rules."

The vibrant illustration style may look familiar. Laura Cornell has also collaborated with New York Times best-selling author, Jamie Lee Curtis, on books like I'm Gonna Like Me: Letting Off A Little Self-Esteem and Where Do Balloons Go?

Pros

I love this book because it shows the point of view of both parent and child, and will hopefully lead to a better understanding of each other, greater communication and eventually to compromise.

Cons

If you're one of the lucky ones whose child never gives you any trouble when it comes to going to bed (I wish I could say I was in your boat), you may want to avoid this book. It will probably plant ideas you want to avoid.
