Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (Book 2)
Harry Potter enters his second year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry along with Ron Weasley and Hermoine Granger.
After a dismal summer with the Dursley family, and no letters from his friends, Harry is anxiously waiting for the day he can return to Hogwarts.
To make matters worse Dobby, a house elf, turns up to warn Harry of terrible things that will happen if he returns to school. Dobby must punish himself for warning Harry because it goes against the rules. Dobby even gets Harry in trouble with the Dursleys hoping they will keep him from Hogwarts.
When all seems lost, the Weasley brothers show up in their father's flying car to rescue him. Harry finds out that everyone has been worried because he never answered any of their letters, but how could he when he never got them? Harry spends the next little while with the Weasleys and starts getting ready for school. After a dangerous wrong turn, while travelling by Floo Powder and an uncomfortable run in with Draco Malfoy (Harry's rival at school) and his father, all seems ready. At the train station Ron and Harry are prevented from entering the secret platform, 9 3/4. Not knowing what else to do, they swipe Mr. Weasley's car and attemt to catch up with the Hogwarts Express.
A harrowing ride turns into an even more harrowing landing but things can only get worse. It seems a chamber of secrets has been opened, placing the students in grave danger. Some are turned into a catatonic state, including Hermoine, and there are some who believe Harry is to blame. When Ron's little sister Ginnie is taken into the chamber, it is up to Harry and Ron to get to the bottom of this before it is too late. Although Harry doesn't always follow the rules, his intentions are good. It is this goodness and purity of heart that allows him to prevail over evil.
Harry is willing to risk every thing for his friends, and in turn, people are willing to make sacrifices to help him.
