Hawksong: The Kiesha'ra Volume One
A story about two make-believe battling species who regard each other with disdain, dating back many years.
If your child is a fantasy book lover, then they will most likely enjoy "Hawksong", a story about two make-believe battling species who regard each other with disdain, dating back many years. Ironically, both clans do not remember the origin of the conflict that has led to the years of war.
A prince among one of the clans is determined to stop the bloodshed and seeks to mediate a resolution. A mediator proposed a peace treaty, bound by the marriage of the clan's royalty. Members of both clans, whose deepening distrust had lead to several assassination attempts, opposed acceptance of this marriage.
Amelia Atwater Rhodes takes her reader through a mystical adventure yet is able to weave in a believable love story.
My 13 year-old daughter, though not a fan of fantasy adventures, finished the book and asked if there was a sequel. Patience was required to get drawn into the plot, but it was worth it!
