I Will Never Not Ever Eat a Tomato

by Erin Mariasine

A truly remarkable story for finicky eaters.

I enjoyed the dedication of a young brother named Charlie, who used both his imagination and creativity, to get his younger sister (and picky eater) Lola to eat dinner.

She won't eat carrots as "they're for rabbits", peas are "too small" and she especially won't eat tomatoes. To get her to eat, her brother pretended each food item was something different that Lola could relate to. For instance, carrots became "orange twinglets from Jupiter", peas were "green drops from greenland" and potatoes were "cloud fluff". Wouldn't you know it -- Lola ate everything up even her "moonsquirters", otherwise known as tomatoes.

I truly loved the story. I was able to relate because as a young child I was a very picky eater. Finicky eaters will definitely enjoy the humour in the story. The story is excellent for young children as well as beginner readers.

The illustrations are fantastic; very realistic. They show you the picture of the vegetables along with a corresponding label underneath. Children love to read along with you and this way they definitely can. Finally, It can teach children to learn to solve problems and to use their imagination when trying something new.
