I've Got the Back-To-School Blues
Annie has to face the scary unknown of a new teacher named Ms. Toady without the support of her two best friends who got assigned to a seperate classroom.
This is the first book of the 'All Aboard Reading' series that I have seen. What a great concept! The books each have their graded reading levels listed clearly on the front, so people that are familiar with the books and know what level they are in search of can just grab a 'station stop 2', or whatever, off the shelf. For those who are not familiar, the back of the book tells you what you can expect to find in the book at any given level. This book is rated a 2. Level 2 books are recommended for those that are "Reading with Help". My daughter is only 3 so if I were going by the Station Stop reading level only, I would have probably gotten a level 1 for her as she is just in the early stages of beginning to read. But, if this story is any kind of indication as to what can be expected from other books in the series I will continue to look for other books for her at the station stop 2 level. No, she can't read them herself yet – that is something she'll attempt as she gets a little older. But the story really is a good one; her attention was focused on the book for its entire 48 pages. Girls especially from about the ages of 4 to 8 will enjoy this book and many will be able to identify with the main character, Annie, as well. Annie is dreading her new school year because this year she will be separated from her two best friends. She is going into a classroom where she'll feel all alone from the other kids and to top it all off, she is getting a brand-new-to-the-school-teacher, named Ms. Toady! With a name like that she is sure to be mean and ugly and all covered in warts! How will Annie ever survive?
