Jacob Two-Two and the Dinosaur
Jacob Two Two relates to yet another large creature.
It's important to introduce young readers to elements of tone and style early on.
Mr. Richler takes the opportunity to make Jacob and his pet Dinosaur vessels for great political commentary and satire, and does it without going over anyone's head. It's hard not to laugh at characters like "Professor Wacko Kilowatt" and "Prime Minister Perry Pleaser. And it's hard not to feel bad for a boy who has to travel cross country just to let his friend be different without being persecuted.
And who am I kidding? It's hard not to swallow a Richler tone. Richlerphiles and young readers alike should partake in this story. It's never too early to introduce quality writing and viewpoint into one's life.
