Jacob Two-Two Meets the Hooded Fang
A funny account of young Jacob Two-Two's decent into and through prison, and the redemption of Child Power coming to triumph. Lovely.
This book is a story about a young English boy, who is two plus two plus two years old, and goes by the name of Jacob Two-Two. Jacob has a tendency to say everything twice. Jacob has a tendency to say everything twice (sorry, I had to, it won't happen again.) But when his mission to the grocery store to see the two-faced Mr. Cooper goes awry, Jacob finds himself in a very grey prison, in the foggiest part of England.
And so Jacob is taken prisoner to Slimer's Isle. Worse still, he is under the watchful eye of the Hooded Fang. Challenges and daring escapes ensue... the details of which I assure you are worth the read.
Clever from start to finish, Montreal-born, and world acclaimed writer Mordecai Richler puts together a very charming story. The characters are charming. The plot line too, charming. Fortunately for Mr. Richler, he found an illustrator who could keep pace, for the drawings of Mr. Fritz Wegner are also... you guessed it... charming.
Great fun! Great read!
