Jacob Two-Two's First Spy Case

by Annie Rosenberg

The adventures of Jacob Two-Two continue in Mordechai Richler's third book.

Jacob Two-Two's First Spy Case is the third installment in the Jacob Two-Two series.

Mordechai Richler is once again in top form, introducing readers to a vast array of such colorful characters as I.M. Greedyguts, the new headmaster at Jacob's private school.

After arriving at Privilege House, I.M. Greedyguts proceeds to fire the staff, including the school cook, whom he replaces with Perfectly Loathsome Leo Louse, whose menu changes include healthy servings of slop (yum, slop!)

Things go from bad to worse when Miss Sour Pickle, Jacob's nasty geography teacher, sneaks up on Jacob whenever he daydreams in class, demanding that he name the capital cities of Tibet. Enter Jacob's new neighbor, X. Barnaby Dinglebat, Master Spy, who concocts a plan -- and the adventure begins...

This cheeky, irreverent book is at once witty and sympathetic, and made all the more appealing by Richler's jabs at adult hypocrisy.
