Klutz Learn to Knit Knitting Kit

by Claudia Ann Sodaro

An all-inclusive kit comes with this book of detailed directions, illustrations, and helpful recommendations needed to create six knitted accessories.

Klutz's 93-page book by author, Anne Akers Johnson, makes it easy for beginning knitters to start with the basics.

Included in the attached kit are: 210 yards of worsted yarn, yarn needle, knitting needles, crochet hook and two buttons. The beginner needs only to supply scissors and a needle and thread.

Starting with pictures, which demonstrate how to wind the yarn, the beginner is then instructed to tie a slip knot. Easy-to-see drawings show how to hold the needles in one's hands. Further directions for casting, knitting an purling are given with step-by-step procedures. Tips are given on buying more yarn, blocking, sewing seams and checking one's gauge.

The remainder of the book's content is dedicated to the six wonderful projects -- making a scarf, hat, purse, pocket purse, cell phone sock and sunglass case.

Tips

Practicing the basic steps in the beginning of the book will make knitting the six projects much more enjoyable. If adult instruction is needed for younger children, the purchase of another set of knitting needles may be advised. This will prevent frustration for the beginner who is having to continually reposition the hands while holding the knitting needles.

Pros

Great kit for interested beginning knitters. Explicit illustrations.
