Leo's Tree

by Erin Mariasine

The book "Leo's Tree" is a delightful story that follows the growth and changes of a little boy named Leo, and his tree, which was planted at the same time he was born.

"Leo's Tree" describes the many exciting changes that a little boy, and a newly planted tree, experience during both of their early years of life. For instance, as the little boy gets his first few strands of hair, the tree sprouts its first few buds.

I loved this book as it teaches several valuable lessons. Firstly, the story illustrates the developmental changes that occur in a young child (Leo learns to creep, crawl and stand). It also includes science-based information, such as how trees grow, and descriptions of changes that occur in trees, during different seasons. Finally, it shows many similarities that exist between the growth of a child and that of a tree.

It was exciting to watch them both grow and to learn from Leo's love for nature.

Children love to read about things they can relate to -- and this book certainly fits the bill!
