"Let's Get a Pup!" Said Kate
After her cat dies, leaving her lonely for a pet, Kate and her family take a trip to the local animal shelter. A truly heartwarming story; it reminds us that there are many animals out there that are in need of good homes and loving families. I know that it had my daughter and I wanting to go to our shelter to adopt a pet of our own.
Not only was the story sweet, but we really loved the illustrations as well.
Kate's mother and father aren't the most traditional looking parents. They both have body piercings, and Kate's mom even sports a tattoo! My daughter had all sorts of questions about Kate's parents. I loved this opportunity to show her that people are all wonderfully unique. I could answer her straightforward questions without the embarrassment of having to do it in a grocery store check out line-up. (Although, I'm sure I haven't been let off the hook that easily!)
