Not So True Stories & Unreasonable Rhymes
As its title implies, this is a book of rhymes.
The rhymes are all nice to hear, and for myself, nice to read. Truthfully though, this book wasn't a big success with my daughter, aged 3. She is an avid pre-reader and has many different types of books, most of which are well read. But since we read through this one together the first time, I have been the only one to pull it off of the shelf in hopes that she would see something that interested her within its pages. No luck so far, though I am optimistic that as she gets older she'll show more interest in it, because the book truly is lovely.
The artwork is interesting too; its images are made up of many different fabrics and papers. A graphic artist friend of mine was impressed with its layout as well. Unfortunately, my daughter and my friend don't share the same opinion and I am afraid this book is destined to continue occupying its space on the bookshelf--at least for a little while.
