Queen of the Class (Ann Estelle Stories)

by Andrea Hermitt

The Queen of the Class is a brief but cute story that simply explains we are more valuable than we think.

The main character Ann Estelle wants a major part in the play and instead is chosen to be the stage manager. She is very upset and disappointed and over time realizes just how important the stage manager part is and that her talents were greatly needed behind the scenes.

In the end, she does a great job and is proud of herself.

Tips

Several words are illustrated for emphasis and stand out from the rest. You can use these words to teach your child vocabulary and to discuss different points in the story.

Pros

This book is written in a classic style and exhibits the best of how a little girl should respond to challenges. For example, there are no temper tantrums and wise cracks like you would find in modern books about little girls.

Cons

The alphabet border across the top of the pages is distracting.
