Rhinos Who Snowboard
In this book, Mammano does a great job of educating the reader about snowboarding. The bright colors and stylized images guide the reader through a day on the slopes with rhinos who go "totally agro!" They catch "phat air" and "plant hohos," and at the end of the day the rhinos "chill out while loads of phat pow dump outside."
If you love snow and are interested in snowboarding, Mammano's book is a great introduction. A glossary of "Board Speak" is included at the back of the book to eliminate any confusion about the terminology used.
Rhinos Who Snowboard is a picture book designed for younger readers. It seems to evoke a mixed reaction among children of varying ages. Perhaps it is because the nature of the topic and the vocabulary are of more interest to older kids while the images and use of rhinos as characters appeal to younger children.
