Some Things Are Scary

by Sabrina Zuccaro

This book cleverly shows young children that although certain "things" may seem scary, there really is nothing to fear.

This is a great picture book that tackles fears young children often have or experience.

The wonderful cartoon-like illustrations are very appealing to children. The author talks about familiar fearful scenarios that children experience, ranging from being afraid of getting a shot at the doctor's office, to discovering that your hamster cage is empty! No one likes being last when teams are being picked, and that too, along with the issue of telling lies, is also addressed.

My two boys, ages three and six, both loved this book! They thought the boy in the story was funny and felt that they could relate to what he was experiencing. My family all had many laughs while reading the book, and we were then able to discuss the lessons the book was trying to teach them.

This book is appropriate for children of all ages and I highly recommend this book to parents who wish to discuss issues of fear with their children.
