Something Good
Tyya's dad won't buy anything good at the supermarket, until he finds his own daughter up for sale!
Tyya and her brother and sister join their father for a shopping trip. As they walk up and down the aisles, Tyya watches her dad put all kinds of healthy food into their trolley. Dismayed, she sets off to find something "good" - candy, cookies, ice cream or pop. Each time Tyya returns with hundreds of bad-for-you items, until her dad instructs her to stay put and not to move, AT ALL. Even when a saleswoman plants a price tag on her and places her on a shelf. After a couple of close calls, Tyya's father finds her and is about to leave - until he is told he must pay for anything with a price tag, even his own daughter. At first, he is reluctant to spend $29.95 on his own flesh and blood. But then Tyya asks him a pointed question - isn't she worth it?
This is a fun, yet simple story that kids will love. Robert Munsch is one of the world's most acclaimed storytellers, and his books just beg to be read aloud! Although the illustrations are exiciting and clearly complement the words, it's in the telling of the tale that the fun lies. Whether describing the hundreds of chocolate bars or knocking down piles of oranges, there is an energy here that kids, and their parents, will adore.
For anyone who has ever gone shopping with their kids, and for any kid who has ever gone shopping with their parents, this book is for you!
