The Cat and the Wizard
The Cat and the Wizard tells a story about the relationship between two very different outcasts, one a cat and the other a wizard.
By chance one afternoon they meet at the Laundromat, and discovering that they both enjoy many of the same things, they become fast friends.
This story is a pleasure to read. It reads easily and its rhyming words make it a pleasure to listen to as well. While reading it for the first time, I felt like I was reading a new Dr. Seuss book -- one just as wonderful that made a little more sense.
My daughter, aged 3, enjoyed it as well. The only thing we found, and I don't consider this to be a negative, is that its length is a little long for my daughter's taste right now. When she is really in the mood for a good story, she'll sit for its duration but many times we'll get 3/4 of the way through the story, and she disappears. Still, with The Cat and the Wizard, I somehow find myself sitting (albeit alone) reading the rest of the book.
That aside, this is a book that I'm happy to have in our little home library. Confidently, I can say that it will be read and enjoyed often, and more so as my daughter ages.
