The Sidewalk Rescue

by Samantha Kravitz

A fun story about what happens when Josie jumps into her sidewalk drawing, and needs a little help to get out.

In "The Sidewalk Rescue" Josie jumps into her sidewalk drawing of a garden, only to discover that she can't get out. Her sister Morgan runs to get help and everyone in the neighbourhood pitches in to try to get Josie out of the sidewalk drawing. Everything they do to try to save Josie, just gets her in to more and more trouble. Finally Morgan figures out a way to get Josie safely home and in one piece.

The illustrations juxtaposed to the sidewalk drawings are a great way for the reader to see the imaginary world that can exist beyond the chalk drawings.

The author does a great job of keeping the adventure going through all of Josie's mishaps. It feels right that her sister Morgan has to step in to get her to safety.
