The Soles of Your Feet (My Body Science)

by Dianna Johnston

Children are curious about so many things. The soles of their feet is one topic they might not have thought of. (Out of sight, out of mind.) This book shows a comparison of kids feet and adult feet. It shows the different sizes of baby feet, adult feet, and a horse's hoof. It gives the child a place to trace his own feet. It shows different things you can do with your feet. It shows a comparison of human hands and feet, gorilla hands and feet, and orangutan hands and feet. It tells about how humans evolved from tree dwellers to bipeds. It shows what happens with our feet when we run. It shows the difference between high arched feet and low arched feet and provides a space for the child to leave his footprint to see what kind of arch he has.

My son and I found this book interesting. He was excited about tracing his feet and making his footprint. We made a game out of trying to pick things up with our toes.
