This Gum for Hire: A Chet Gecko Mystery
Meet Chet Gecko, the private eye with a sweet tooth and an appetite for finding clues.
Players from the football team have been disapearing. Herman the Gila monster wants Chet to find them fast - or else! The fee is chocolate cake, one for each missing player, but is it worth it? To solve this one, Chet will have to go undercover as one of the team. It's a race against time. Friday is the big game. If the missing players aren't back, the coach is going to bench Herman for the game, and Herman is going to bench Chet for life!
The list of suspects include the school nurse (what's her secret?), Coach "BEEF" Stroganoff (he is closest to the players) and Buford the water boy (you just have a "scents" about this one).
As the list of suspects grows, so does the list of missing players. Right under Chet's nose they become ill and then disapear. Will Chet solve the mystery and survive Herman's threat? Will he even survive football practice? A very fun story with enough little twists to keep you guessing.
This story also has a lot of fun with words as you can tell from the title.
