To Everything
Barner uses torn paper collage to interpret this popular verse from the book of Ecclesiastes (Old Testament). It suggests that there is a season, a time, and a purpose for everything, and includes a Reader's Guide to encourage participation in discussion and collage activities.
Barner's book is beautiful and thought provoking. The more it's read, the more one can interpret life lessons from its images. In the author's note, Barner indicates that his intention for this book was to make the "timeless message of these wise words accessible to readers of all ages and backgrounds." Mission accomplished.
If you read this story and feel that it is somehow familiar, perhaps it is that Barner has captured the essence of life on Earth. It is possible that you recognize Barner's style from some of his other books. OR...it may be that you remember the well-known song made popular by the Byrds.
Share this book with a child. Reflect upon the feelings and questions that it evokes. Use it as a springboard for discussion. Use it as a model for creating art. But, most of all, enjoy its beauty.
