This beautifully illustrated collection combines detailed watercolors with poetic prose to create a must-have collection for literature lovers everywhere.
The stories are timeless classics, which were meant to be shared time and time again, and Helen Ward's retellings are artistic to the eye and the ear. This collection, however, would not serve as an appropriate introduction to Aesop for young children. The language and wording is difficult for young readers and listeners, and without prior knowledge of the story the meaning will be lost on young children. I highly recommend this book for older children who are already familiar with the tales, as well as adults.
