Wonder Woman: Amazon Princess
The story opens with the gods and goddesses of Mount Olympus rewarding the Amazon women for their heroic deeds by giving them a home on Paradise Island. In exchange for their new home, the Amazons were to keep the forces of Fear and Chaos locked in the caves beneath the Island.
One day Queen Hippolyta walked along the water's edge and molded a child of clay, the queen wished that she could have a child. The gods and goddesses of Olympus granted her wish and turned her clay child into a living, breathing child. Queen Hippolyta named her child Diana - Princess of the Amazons.
As Diana grew she received lessons in the ways of the Amazons and discovered that she had unusual strength. On her way to the oracle's chambers one day, she saw her mother's sword, shield, and crown, and decided to try them on. While she was looking at her reflection she accidentally knocked open the door to the forbidden tunnels and fell in. Using the sword, shield, and the crown she escaped from the beast that lived there.
Later, Queen Hippolyta received a warning from the oracle that Ares, the god of war, was planning on bringing conflict to all parts of the world. The gods and goddesses wanted the Amazons to send one of their people to live in Mortals' World to teach them the ways of peace. Queen Hippolyta decided the only way to choose whom to send was to have a contest, but refused to let Diana compete. Diana disguised herself and entered the contest, winning every event. When Diana removed her mask everyone was shocked and the queen begged her not to go on the mission. Finally, the oracle told the queen she had to let Diana go.
When Diana left she took with her, her mother's sword, shield, and crown. She would be known as Wonder Woman to the Mortals' World, but to the Amazons she would forever be Diana - Amazon Princess.
