Charades for Kids
by Claudia Ann SodaroA board game where acting out charades and guessing the answer moves players to the FINISH space.
Children who love to act out charades will enjoy this game. The four-year-old and eight-year-old playing the game commented on how colorful the board is with its ten large red circles, four green stars marked "ALL PLAY," and the "START" and "FINISH" marked spaces. While the board is quite simplistic in nature, the challenge comes in acting out one of the three charades listed on each of the 150 playing cards. Rolling the die determines which of the three will be acted out.
The game caters to players too young to read, supplying 50 cards with picture clues at the top. This made it a tad easier for the four-year-old, however he had difficulty acting out even the picture clues for words such as "sandwich," "corkscrew" and "chef." For this reason, the suggested age level of 4 and up may be 5 and up. Three to six players participate in the game at one time. The more players there are, the more guesses may be had at each charade acted out.
Charades is known for making players laugh and these children did that. Besides the frustration with some of the words and picture clues given, for the most part acting out the words on each game card became a fun time for both.
