Q: I read on your official site that you have a great deal of love of food, and in The Tale of Despereaux food plays an important part in the character's lives. I was wondering, do you cook a lot yourself?
A: I love to cook. I think it's a great thing to be able to do; I'd love to do it more. I make some mean chocolate brownies, and I make pasta a lot--just fun stuff to be honest. I'm trying to learn to make risotto at the moment.
Q: In the film your character has a great longing for a lot of things… including soup. If you had to pick from all the soups in the world, what would be your favorite soup?
A: This is going to be terrible, but for me, nothing can beat Heinz tomato soup. Love it.
Q: At the age of six told her grandmother that she wanted to be a fairy, a princess, and an actress. So with this film you've been able to realize two of your childhood dreams--are there any other goals that you haven't achieved yet?
A: To be honest I've fulfilled more than I've ever dreamed I would be able to, so I think I'm doing pretty well. [Joking] Of course, if a fairy role comes up, that would be great. [Laughs]
Q: After you finished high school last year, you elected to take what's known as a "gap year." What do you feel have been some of the advantages of taking time off from school?
A: The main reason I took a gap year is because I had to finish Harry Potter and trying to finish a Harry Potter film and go to university isn't very realistic so I had to leave time for that. But I guess it just gives you a chance to see the world. I've been traveling a lot and it's wonderful to explore other cultures and see how other people live their lives.
Also [going to school] gets tiring, year after year going through this kind of revisions exams revisions exams-- I think it's nice to have a chance to figure out what you want to do. But I definitely don't think it's for everyone.
Q:What are some things you are looking forward to in the coming year?
A: [The two installments of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows] are my two main projects… they're keeping me really busy. But next September I'll be going to university.
Q:Do you know what school you'll be going to yet?
A: No it's all still up in air.
Q: One last question, Christmastime is upon us--do you have any favorite Christmas songs?
A: Frank [Sinatra] and Bing [Crosby]! I like all the songs, like "White Christmas" is a good one. Every Christmas I bring out Christmas with Frank and Bing. I love Frank and Bing! I have their whole CD and I play it every year.
