Kids On Stage Game
by Jodi GallegosThis is a charades game for kids. This game pairs very basic counting and color recognition with imagination and activity. A great game for very active and imaginative children.
Kids on Stage is "The Charades Game for Kids". It is an active game for up to six players ages 3-8.
Three piles of cards are placed on the game board. There are animal cards, action cards, and object cards. Each player selects a playing piece. The oldest player begins by spinning the numbered spinner and moving the number of spaces that the arrow points to. The player then chooses a card the color of the space their piece landed on. The player must then act out the image on the card. The player cannot speak but can rely on sounds and actions to act out the image. When another player correctly guesses the object it is the next players turn. Play continues until all players get their pieces to the "finish" spot.
Although it is marketed for children as young as three, some children may have a hard time understanding the concept of charades. In this case, the game can be easily adapted and still be enjoyable. My three year-old son was excited to just identify the images on the cards. After he identified (for instance) a frog, I would prompt him to show how a frog jumps or what sound it makes. He is slowly evolving into a charades player, and is having fun learning.
Reading skills aren't needed to play Kids on Stage, but counting from 1-8 is required. The cards and board are very sturdy but the spinner can come apart.
Kids on Stage is a great game for very active and animated children.
