It's Potty Time!

Join Bobby, Mr. Benders and friends at Bobby's fourth birthday party. The children in the video illustrate the correct procedure for using the potty with the help of catchy songs and rhymes.
It's Potty Time is a toilet training aid from The Duke Family Series, part of Duke University Medical Centre. The video works well when accompanied with the book of the same name.
The premise of the video is simple, Bobby's friends are coming to his birthday party, but first they must go to the potty. The video uses songs and rhymes to demonstrate the correct way to use the potty, including reminders to pull down pants, wipe, flush and wash. There is even a part where three boys go to the washroom during the party. At the end of the story the children become "Super Dooper Poopers". According to the program, your child becomes one too, when s/he uses the potty, without accidents, for a week.
I watched this video with my 2-year-old son. He is encouraged to use the potty, but still wears diapers and we are not at the point of full blown training. He thought the songs were hilarious and immediately tried to sing them by himself. Most of the songs on the video are set to familiar music, such as 'Row Row your Boat". He loved the parts with the clown and particularly enjoyed when the boys went to the potty. I was astonished when he started singing one of the songs (about pulling down your pants) while getting ready for the potty, after watching the video just a few times.
As mentioned there is a book by the same name that my son liked, but not as much as he likes the video. The book contains the same text from the video to help parents stay consistent when training. It also allows parents to have the correct lyrics to the songs. This video is very helpful as a potty training aid, as the songs are catchy and watching other children use the potty will motivate your child to follow suit. Although the songs started to get on my nerves after watching the video a few times in a row (my son loves repetition!), I'll let him watch it as often as he wants, because it is a useful tool to encourage hygenic potty habits.
