The Shaggy D.A. (1976)

By Lisa Woodworth

MPAA Rating: G

What It’s About:
Wilby Daniels had it all: a great career, a beautiful home, lovely family and a very hairy (or should I say furry!) past. When we last left Wilby he was just a boy. Well…sometimes. Sometimes Wilby was a big, shaggy dog. But Wilby Daniels, the man, thought that past was all behind him. And it should have been, so long as the magical ring that would change Wilby stayed put safely in the museum. But when robbers steal the ring and once again the fateful inscription is read, Daniels goes from running for the D.A’s office to running for a place to hide. All the while, Daniels must also save the town from the corrupt powers that currently hold office.

What Parents Need To Know:
The movie’s content is pretty safe for all ages. Aside from is one or two gunshot blasts that never make their mark, and one off-colored name calling during a very chaotic pie fight, the only thing us parents really need to know is not to forget the popcorn.

The Bottom Line:
We really enjoyed the movie. After watching The Shaggy Dog (Wild & Woolly Edition) (1959) this movie didn’t fail to please. And with the addition of Tim Conway, this one was even funnier than the first. The biggest reason I liked the movie: the laughter that came right from my five-year-old daughter’s very core!

The Scoop:
This is one that you’ll want to watch over and over. It’s a great addition to any family’s home library!
