The Fundex Mexican Train Game

by Sabrina Zuccaro

The Mexican Train Game is a different way of playing dominoes because players are building a track for their train to go on. It is a fun and unique way of playing a classic!

The basic rules are the same, however, there are a few more rules that players have to follow with regards to building the track and so on. Also noteworthy, is that the game comes in an attractive, train-shaped, tin box (which is a key selling point for those of you who like attractive tin boxes).

The age for this game in six years and up. It was, however, a little too complex for my six-year-old son. He didn't really understand this version of dominoes (even though he can play regular dominoes). It seemed as though there were too many rules and perhaps too many different types of dominoes for him to keep track of.

He liked the idea of using the dominos to build a track for his train, and the fact that he could press the tile in the center of the train station hub to hear a "Woo, Woo" sound.

This game did not, however, grab his attention for too long. I might be more inclined to recommend this game for an older child, simply because they might understand and enjoy this game more.
