Thomas & Friends Water Tower Figure 8 Set

by Erin Mariasine

My nephew and I had a lot of fun playing with the train set. It comes with many added features such as a water tower, which my two-year-old nephew found fascinating. He also seemed to be completely enthralled by the colors of the set. The toy is designed with many colors that seem to encourage children to maintain their concentration (and in the case of my nephew, for hours at a time!)

There are many educational as well as developmental benefits that can be gained from this toy. It encourages both fine and gross motor skills; the children must manipulate the tracks as well as move the trains. It also encourages hand-eye coordination; they must stay on the tracks. The toy especially demonstrates creative play; children can role-play, make up stories, and change scenes around. As though that weren't enough, it also teaches sequencing and patterns.

It's a set that can grow with a child's increasing ability and creativity. There are additional expansion packs that can be bought to increase any child's fun.

My nephew absolutely adores Thomas! At the tender age of two, he wasn't yet able to fully gain from the set, in terms of building it himself or using his creativity. Still, he fully enjoyed moving the train along the tracks, and watching the water rise and fall.

I have no doubts that this is a toy my nephew will enjoy more and more as his he grows older.

fun!
