Tip of The Tongue Game

by Andrea Hermitt

Tip of the tongue is a trivia game that forces you to exercise your memory. The instructions are easy enough to follow. I played it with my eight and ten-year-old, and was surprised to find that I did not royally whip them when we played.

Instructions as we understood it: One player reads a question aloud then places a finger on the red tongue symbol. If the other players do not answer two seconds, the game makes a "raspberry" sound at them. A correct answer gets one point. Then the next player reads a card aloud and so on. We played six rounds, which took 30 minutes to complete.

Game difficulty: This game is advertised as being suited to ages 8 and up. I would have to disagree a bit. If just one or two of the players are younger than the recommended age levels, then the reader can choose appropriate questions for the players answering that turn. Therefore, this game is easier and more fun to play in a smaller crowd and with mixed or older age groups.

Usefulness: As a homeschooler, I highly recommend this game. A parent/teacher can select questions based on what the child should already know. They can even make up questions of their own.

Tips

Play the game in smaller groups of mixed ages to make it flow more smoothly. Tailor the question you ask to each participant asking him or her only questions that someone their age might know.

Pros

- Lots of fun. - Exercises the brain. - Can be used for educational purposes.

Cons

- Questions are not well organized. - Questions should be organized by level of difficulty. - Would be nice to have the opportunity to purchase more cards based on subject matter.
