Wiggles Guitar

by Jason Praw

"For those about to rock, we salute you!"

The recommended age for this item is 4 to 7 years, but I'd expand that range downward somewhat. The large, colorful buttons allow the youngest of music fans to enjoy both the 8 signature Wiggles songs and the wacky "boinging" noises this child-sized guitar creates.

It is easy-to-use, lightweight and fits in a child's arms easily, allowing them to press the various buttons while dancing to their favorite tunes. The different buttons, which include several shapes, as well as images of each of The Wiggles characters, help children to fine-tune both their motor skills and their hand-eye coordination.

The younger crowd will also enjoy how silly you look when you try to play a Jimi Hendrix-style national anthem on it. Older kids can try to play their favorite songs on the fully functional 8-note scale that lines the neck of the guitar.

Adults, who have taken a piano lesson, can also impress their children with psychedelic versions of "Three Blind Mice" or "Twinkle, Twinkle". Even though this toy will not turn anyone into a guitar aficionado, it will certainly spark some musical interest. And no need for earplugs, this toy has an off switch (although a volume control would be nice)!
